Meet Our Staff
David Markle
Accompanist
David Markle enjoyed a career as a high school vocal and instrumental music teacher for 27 years in Ohio having taught in the Columbus and Cleveland area. He and his wife, Mary are enjoying retirement in Savannah Lakes Village as avid golfers and boaters and enjoy traveling to visit with their three children and five grandchildren.

Although, originally a classically-trained pianist, David enjoys playing all styles of music as a result of his years playing in a variety of bands, producing and playing for various musical productions as an educator, not to mention his years as a church musician and director.

In retirement, David continues to enjoy sharing his unique blend of styles and love for piano in any number of settings from cocktail music for special events, as an accompanist and especially his work as a church musician at The Lutheran Church by The Lake. David feels blessed to have been sharing his passion for piano on the lovely Yamaha Grand at this beautiful church and appreciative congregation since the fall of 2019.
Susan K. Mazur
Administrative Assistant
Susan lived her first 28 years in Chicago Illinois and attended Galewood Community Church, which was a United Church of Christ denomination. She remembers how active that church was and how much her parents enjoyed their years there. She was employed at the First National Bank of Chicago and CNA Insurance Company, both located in “the Loop”.
She married Robert Mazur in April of 1985 and moved to the suburbs of Washington DC for his job. There she attended Great Seneca United Church of Christ in Germantown, MD., where their daughter Emily, who was born in 1987, attended the Co-operative Nursery School she volunteered for. Prior to her daughter’s birth she worked for the United Mine Workers Health and Retirement Funds on K Street in Washington, DC. While it was a very dynamic city, they longed to move to a less hectic life, so they packed themselves up and headed south.
In 1990 they relocated to Winston-Salem, NC. Susan began attending Hebron United Church of Christ and became a very active member and was on the Board of Christian Ed and the Board of Consistory. Their son Mitchell was born in 1994. She worked for Wachovia Bank, RBC Dain Rauscher and finally for Davidson County Schools, where she retired in 2019.
The move to SLV happened in April of 2020, right in the middle of COVID, where everything was strange and shut down. Susan was so excited when the Lutheran Church By The Lake finally reopened for services. She is so glad to be here and back in the community of God.
